Unfortunately a woman in the early stages of breast cancer may not have any symptoms. This is why it is important for women to follow screening recommendations. However, as the cancer grows in size, a woman may notice a number of symptoms including:

  • a lump or thickening in her breast or underarm area
  • a change in size or shape of her breast
  • nipple discharge or nipple turning inward
  • redness or scaling of the skin on or around the nipple
  • ridges or pitting of the breast skin.
