Being a jury member for the LEAP program was a truly enriching experience. I thank Roche for this forward-thinking initiative that showcased incredible innovation—from clinical to nonclinical solutions—aimed at transforming cancer care. The creativity, empathy, and real- world potential in over 250 student entries were truly inspiring. I sincerely hope these ideas are taken forward, as even small changes can make a significant difference in the lives of cancer patients.

This year’s LEAP program was even more inspiring, with in-person interactions adding a new dimension to the experience. The finalists’ entrepreneurial mindset and use of AI/ML to improve patient care were truly impressive. Judging the 40 shortlisted entries was a challenge, given the level of innovation and out-of-the-box thinking. I commend Roche for this vital initiative and hope it continues to shape the future of oncology.

Being part of the LEAP program for the first time was a refreshing and inspiring experience. It was heartening to see so many confident young women oncologists and ideas that prioritized patient quality of life. The empathy, innovation, and practicality shown by all participants were remarkable. This initiative is setting the right tone for the future of oncology in India.

A tip for future applicants: use AI wisely—originality and clear-thinking matter most. Some projects were so inspiring, I wanted to join in! Everything was blinded to eliminate bias, ensuring fairness given the large number of colleges and students. Our primary evaluation criteria were based on clinical practice relevance, practicability, technology usage, and the innovative solutions proposed by the applicants in their real-world practice.

There were so many wonderful entries, and it was a challenge to determine the best among the diverse and complex problems presented.
