I would like to thank Roche Pharma and the LEAP India team for conducting such a unique competition that allows young oncologists like us to come up with innovative solutions to problems we experience in our own lives and clinical settings. What I really like about this competition is that it is not like a technical exam. It does not require deep subject knowledge in any one particular area; instead, it primarily requires problem- solving ability. It encourages a research-oriented mindset from an early stage and provides a genuine platform to think about these problems and, more importantly, focus on solving them rather than simply treating them.

Honored to take my next LEAP in oncology! I am delighted to share that I have been selected as a winner of the Roche LEAP 3rd Edition Oncology Scholarship. Participating in LEAP has been an inspiring experience—one that encouraged me to challenge conventional thinking, embrace innovation, and explore new possibilities to improve cancer care. I am grateful to Roche for providing young oncology professionals with a platform to explore ideas, share perspectives, and begin meaningful conversations about the future of oncology. This recognition motivates me to continue growing as an oncologist, stay curious, and contribute to innovations that can ultimately make a difference for patients. Proud of this milestone. LEAP is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our out-of-the- box thinking and develop innovative solutions to help patients from low socioeconomic backgrounds. I would especially like to thank my entire BBCI family, the Roche team, and, in particular, the ELEVATE program for encouraging me to think differently, nurturing my creativity, and giving me the opportunity to showcase my talent.

The entire LEAP journey by Roche has been truly enriching and humbling at the same time. Throughout the process, right from developing solutions to the challenges, most of us, including me, had to go back, revisit certain concepts, question our assumptions, and come up with innovative ideas. This experience was truly eye- opening for all of us. LEAP really pushed us beyond the four walls of our hospital and beyond the patient in front of us. It encouraged us to look into the community, identify areas where there are unmet needs and opportunities for improvement, and think of innovative solutions. I would also like to take a moment to thank the organizing team for the ELEVATE sessions. They brought up such relevant topics that are seldom discussed, and these sessions have truly helped us. The learnings and messages from these sessions will stay with us throughout our careers. Finally, I would like to thank LEAP by Roche for giving us this wonderful opportunity and for this recognition.

A milestone that inspires me to dream bigger! I am humbled and honored to have received the Roche LEAP 3rd Edition Oncology Scholarship. LEAP 3rd Edition has been a valuable opportunity to learn, think creatively, and explore how innovation can help address the evolving needs of cancer care. I hope every student has enjoyed this experience as much as I have enjoyed being a part of LEAP as a jury member. It has given me the opportunity to see the wonderful and innovative ideas that you all have brought forward. In our everyday clinical practice, we often think linearly—focused on managing one patient at a time. LEAP encourages you to think differently, step outside the box, and explore how your ideas can be expanded to benefit the larger community. It has been inspiring to see the way students are approaching challenges from new perspectives. Opportunities like LEAP are rare in medical practice, and I encourage every student to make the most of them. Whether you are a winner or a participant, your ideas have value. It has been an excellent journey, and I am very happy to have been a part of it.

Having served as a judge for this competition, I can attest to the inspiring caliber of ideas. While only a few take home the top prize, many applicants go on to pursue these ambitious projects early in their careers. To me, that lasting impact is the true measure of LEAP's success.

Being a jury member for the LEAP program was a truly enriching experience. I thank Roche for this forward-thinking initiative that showcased incredible innovation—from clinical to nonclinical solutions—aimed at transforming cancer care. The creativity, empathy, and real- world potential in over 250 student entries were truly inspiring. I sincerely hope these ideas are taken forward, as even small changes can make a significant difference in the lives of cancer patients.

This year’s LEAP program was even more inspiring, with in-person interactions adding a new dimension to the experience. The finalists’ entrepreneurial mindset and use of AI/ML to improve patient care were truly impressive. Judging the 40 shortlisted entries was a challenge, given the level of innovation and out-of-the-box thinking. I commend Roche for this vital initiative and hope it continues to shape the future of oncology.

Being part of the LEAP program for the first time was a refreshing and inspiring experience. It was heartening to see so many confident young women oncologists and ideas that prioritized patient quality of life. The empathy, innovation, and practicality shown by all participants were remarkable. This initiative is setting the right tone for the future of oncology in India.

Reviewing the LEAP applications was an enriching experience, with standout ideas that were personal, innovative, and well-articulated. A tip for future applicants: use AI wisely—originality and clear-thinking matter most. Some projects were so inspiring, I wanted to join in! Congratulations to the winners—your passion truly shone through, and I hope to see even greater participation next year.

Everything was blinded to eliminate bias, ensuring fairness given the large number of colleges and students. Our primary evaluation criteria were based on clinical practice relevance, practicability, technology usage, and the innovative solutions proposed by the applicants in their real-world practice.

There were so many wonderful entries, and it was a challenge to determine the best among the diverse and complex problems presented.
